Service Description

This course has been developed to extend the skills of experienced rope rescue professionals and rope access personnel. It is an intensive deep dive into complex rigging for access and rescue in 3 dimensional space. It will develop candidates understanding of the engineering principles and physical forces exerted onto rigging systems during access and rescue operations. The course focusses upon the use of the latest modern equipment including multipod AHDs, powered winch systems and the latest generation of equipment and textiles. Ideally suited for rope access lead riggers, rope rescue technical riggers, team leaders and technical authorities, this is a workshop for practical rigging supported by theoretical analysis and understanding of forces. Course Content –Grading, selecting and manipulating anchorages – Focussed floating anchor points using modern lightweight low stretch systems – Deviation physics and forces – Resultant force management and manipulation – Artificial High Directionals (AHD) Anchor and Directional modes: tripod, A frames, gin poles – AHD past the transition, vertical rigging, invert rigging – Advanced stability understanding – Luffing and pivoting frames – Compression and tensile rigging – Combining multiple rigs – Class 1, 2 and 3 levers – physics in rigging – 3 dimensional access – cross hauls, inclined and horizontal track lines, deflection techniques – System force and movement analysis – Free body diagram analysis and trigonometry assessment – Integrating powered winches – Skylotec ACX, Harken lockhead and rigger winches. – Access and recovery from man riding baskets, PASMA towers, MEWPs, Scaffolding – Command and control Who should attend? The workshop is best suited to team leaders, technical riggers, experienced rescuers and rope rescue / rope access instructors from industry, outdoor sector, emergency services and the military.
