Service Description

This course is aimed at those entering high risk confined spaces as part of a rescue team. This includes the use of vertical and horizontal entry in self-contained breathing apparatus, the use of mechanical hoists and rope systems to affect a rescue of a casualty requiring extraction using a stretcher and supplementary air. Valid for: 3 years Duration: 30 Hours (5 days) Certified by: Rescue 3 Europe Pre-requisites: A minimum age of 18 years. Course includes: • Introduction to Confined Space Legislation • Personal Safety • Safe Systems of Work for Horizontal and vertical entry using Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) • Introduction to gas monitors and the atmospheric hazards • Respiratory Protective Equipment (RPE) – Escape Sets and SCBA • Introduction to ventilation systems • Working at height, work restraint and work positioning • Rope based team rescues, including twin line, twin tensioned systems • Tripod configuration and mechanical hoists • Vertical confined space entry and exit • Rescues employing SCBA and ventilation systems • Medical considerations • Use of rescue harnesses and stretchers, including litter management • Raising and lowering systems, forces, loads and mechanical advantage.
