Rope Rescue Specialist Instructor (RRSi) The Rope Rescue Specialist Instructor pathway is open to agency and independent instructors who have completed the Rescue 3 prerequisites of: • Rope Rescue Operator (RRO - 5 days) • Rope Rescue Technician (RRT - 5 days) • Rope Rescue Specialist (RRS - 5 days) • Rope Rescue Operator Instructor (RROi - 8 days) • Rope Rescue Technician Instructor (RRTi – 8 days) • First aid qualification, appropriate for the environment in which they will be working. Training and Assessment Course Length: 5 days Valid for: 2 years Certified by: Rescue 3 Europe The combined training and assessment course is delivered over 5 days and will focus upon: 1. Instructor personal access and rigging skills 2. Advanced AHD rigging and use 3. Track lines 4. Rescue of casualties in suspension 5. Assessing and evaluating forces within rigging systems 6. Selecting and planning complex scenarios 7. Monitoring safety during student led advanced scenarios. 8. Rescue and recovery of students following unplanned events during training. 9. Working at Height regulations and application to training Please note Rescue 3 is currently reviewing the syllabus and content for RRSi and the exact content will be aligned to the new syllabus due for publication in the autumn of 23. This is a workshop-based assessment where students are expected to be highly competent in all aspects of rope access, team-based rescue rigging and teaching at height. The five-day course will extend instructor technical knowledge, personal skills and scenario planning, management of learning, coaching and accident recovery skills. The workshop will be long hours and very intensive. Delegates should make arrangements to minimise travel during the workshop and after the last day of delivery. It will be a physically demanding week. Delegates will spend a lot of time outside at height including – large railway viaduct, natural climbing crags, on Dartmoor, on industrial complexes and on buildings. There will be pre attendance learning to accomplish prior to the workshop. At the end of the workshop the Instructor Trainer will provide detailed feedback to instructors on their performance and development plan.
