Service Description

This course is aimed at those intending to enter the water in a swiftwater or flood rescue scenario as part of a structured rescue response. The training is developed in line with the DEFRA concept of operations for flood and water incidents specifically within Module 3 of their training standards. It applies these in practical training senarios which develops both individual skills and competencies, along with team-based solutions to rescue challenges. Valid for: 3 years Duration: 4 days Certified by: Rescue 3 Europe Pre-Requisites: A confident swimmer with a minimum age of 18 years. This course complies with the requirements and syllabus of the DEFRA concept of operations standards of water safety training Module 3. Course includes: • Understanding of the framework for flood and water incident response. • Identification of water hazards and hydrological features. • Selecting and maintaining appropriate equipment for operating in this environment. • Incident assessment, management, and control • Personal swimming techniques, tethered swimming, strainer drills. • Non-powered boat, operations, tethered and un-tethered. • Introduction to pulleys and mechanical advantage for tensioned systems. • Medical considerations for both trauma and biological hazards.
